Allen & Heath SQ-5 48ch digital mixer
SQ-5
Delivery 2-3 Working days
Description
The Allen & Heath SQ-5 is the smallest model in the SQ series, but runs on exactly the same 96 kHz XCVI FPGA processing core as the larger SQ-6 and SQ-7: 48 channels, under 0.7 ms latency, and enough capacity to run a different setup every night without compromise.
Control is built around a 7" capacitive color touchscreen with illuminated encoders for direct hands-on control, with channels and mixes dragged to any strip using customizable color-coding and naming. Each of the 48 input channels comes standard with an HPF, gate, 4-band parametric EQ, and Peak/RMS compressor; the DEEP architecture lets you load boutique preamp and compressor emulations directly at channel or bus level without any hit to latency or processing power. The SLink EtherCON port expands the system to Allen & Heath stage boxes for up to 48 mic inputs, and the optional I/O card makes the SQ-5 ready for Dante networks or Waves SoundGrid.
Key Features
- 48 channels in the most compact SQ model: full SQ processing power in a 19" rack-mountable format you drive yourself.
- 16+1 motorized faders across 6 layers: 96 freely assignable strips, so every night's setup feels like your own desk.
- 12 stereo mixes (aux or group) + main LR: run complex IEM setups with multiple performers without touching the main mix.
- DEEP plug-in architecture: boutique compressor and preamp emulations directly at channel or bus level, with no extra latency or cumbersome routing.
- Automatic Mic Mixing (AMM): automatic gain distribution across multiple open mics, essential for conferences, panel discussions, and broadcast productions.
- 32x32 USB audio interface + SQ-Drive: send 32 channels to your DAW or record up to 16 multitrack tracks to a USB stick for a virtual soundcheck.
- SLink + I/O expansion slot: scalable with Allen & Heath stage boxes via dSnake, DX, or gigaACE, or expanded with a Dante or Waves SoundGrid card.

FAQ
How many tracks can the SQ-5 record to USB at once?
Via SQ-Drive you can capture up to 16 tracks of multitrack audio on a USB-A flash drive at 96 kHz. At the same time, you stream 32 channels to your DAW via the USB-B audio interface. Important: USB-C drives aren't supported by the SQ-5.
