The Allen & Heath SQ-7+ is the largest console in the new SQ+ series, combining the 96kHz XCVI FPGA core from the dLive line with the compactness and usability the SQ series has always been valued for, now with seriously upgraded FX and processing power.
What sets the SQ-7+ apart from its predecessor comes down to three layers. First, the interface: the 9"-touchscreen with a fully reworked dark GUI is bigger, faster, and more readable than the 7" screen on the original SQ-7, with drag-and-drop channel layout and color-coding per strip. Second, the FX: the 8 familiar RackExtra FX-engines are now joined by 4 RackUltra FX-engines, each with its own stereo sends and returns, pulled straight from the dLive line, running premium reverbs, vocal tuning, pitch processing, and saturation with zero latency. Third, the DEEP processing power: add-ons like CompStortion, Source Expander, and Dual Threshold Expander, previously exclusive to dLive and Avantis, are now available on the SQ-7+. All of that with 16 assignable softkeys plus 4 SoftRotaries for maximum workflow speed.

When should I choose the SQ-7+ over the SQ-6+?
If you regularly work with 24 or more local sources without an external stage box, the SQ-7+ is the logical choice: 32 local XLR preamps versus 24 on the SQ-6+. It also gives you 16 output XLRs versus 14 on the SQ-6+, for more flexibility in complex monitor and PA setups.
What are the new DEEP add-ons and how do they work in practice?
DEEP processing consists of emulations of classic analog hardware loaded directly into any channel or mix strip, with zero added latency. The new add-ons (CompStortion, Source Expander, Dual Threshold Expander) were previously available only on dLive and Avantis. Activate them via the free PlusPack after registration; they're then available on every channel at once.
Does the SQ-7+ work with existing Allen & Heath stage boxes at 96kHz?
Yes. The AR2412, AR84, and AB168 are all 96kHz-compatible via SLink and connect to the SQ-7+ without issue. The 128x128 SLink port also lets you connect multiple stage boxes or a mix of stage and rack units at once.
Can the SQ-7+ also be used as a split between FOH and monitors?
Yes. Via the SLink port or a Dante option card, you can link the SQ-7+ to a second console. A common setup: SQ-7+ as the monitor desk on stage, connected via SLink or Dante to a dLive or Avantis at FOH, with shared input processing and remote preamp control.
