Description

The Allen & Heath SQ-7 digital mixer is the flagship of the SQ series: 48 channels, 33 motorized faders across six layers, and a 96kHz XCVI FPGA core that stays under 0.7ms latency even with all processing active. Exactly the tool for engineers who want their head in the show, not buried in the desk.

Each of the 48 input channels has a complete processing chain: HPF, an ultra-fast gate with sidechain and filter, a musical 4-band parametric EQ with RTA, and a Peak/RMS compressor for dynamics control down to individual transients. The twelve configurable stereo mixes, each with both parametric and 28-band graphic EQ plus a compressor, make the SQ-7 a serious IEM workhorse, and the Automatic Mic Mixing feature handles speech channels at conferences and panel discussions almost autonomously. Drag-and-drop lets you arrange channels and mixes onto any fader bank, with custom names and color-coding on the strip displays, so your layout follows the show instead of the other way around.

Key Features

  • 33 motorized faders across 6 layers: 192 fader banks, freely assignable; drag-and-drop channels and mixes to any position
  • 32 professional-grade onboard preamps: musical, low-noise conversion on every channel, ready to use straight away with no external stage box
  • 96kHz XCVI FPGA core with under 0.7ms latency: full processing with no audible delay, even at high channel counts with active FX
  • 8 stereo FX engines with their own return channels: the full RackExtra FX library included, with emulations of classic reverbs, gated reverbs, delays, and modulation effects
  • 16 freely programmable SoftKeys and 8 Soft Rotaries: assign whatever you need, from mutes and scene recall to tap tempo and gain control
  • 32x32 USB audio interface and SQ-Drive: built-in direct stereo and multitrack recording to a USB stick; virtual soundcheck with no external recorder
  • SLink port and 64-channel I/O port: expandable with AR-series stage boxes, an optional Dante or Waves card, and the ME Personal Mixing System for performers

FAQ

Can I use the SQ-7 as both an FOH and a monitor mixer at the same time?

That's a common approach. With 12 configurable stereo mixes on top of the main LR output, you have room for multiple wedge and IEM mixes from the same desk. The six fader layers and 192 available fader banks give you enough overview to combine both roles without losing control.

Can the SQ-7 be controlled remotely from a tablet or laptop?

Yes. The free SQ MixPad app runs on iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS and gives you full remote control over WiFi or a wired network, including EQ, routing, gains, and scene management. Handy during soundcheck when you want to be on stage while keeping the desk in hand.

The SQ-7 is an investment in reliability, sound quality, and a professional workflow that pays for itself on every show. Order now at Pro Gear.
