Description
The Allen & Heath SQ-RACK packs all the processing power of the SQ series into a compact 4U rack unit, with a 7" touchscreen and app control as a direct replacement for faders. The same XCVI core found in the SQ5 and SQ6, 48 channels and 36 buses, but 19" wide and just 5.8 kg. Everything else is handled from your tablet or the screen itself.

Pro Tip: Configure the SQ-Control app via an admin account with a simplified view tailored to the venue or the dry-hire client: that gives a bartender or volunteer access to exactly the faders they need, without the risk of them accidentally flipping the whole routing. FAQ
Can I fully operate the SQ-RACK without a tablet or laptop?
Yes. The 7" touchscreen gives direct access to faders, routing, and settings. Set up the eight SoftKeys and four Soft Rotaries as shortcuts for the functions you use most. A tablet makes it more comfortable, but it's certainly not required.
What's the concrete difference from the SQ5?
The processing core, channel structure, and sound quality are identical. The SQ-RACK has no physical faders and is built for situations where rack integration or remote control is the priority. The SQ5 is more compact as a stand-alone desktop unit, but takes up more depth as a rackmount. Choose the SQ-RACK if you mainly work via app or touchscreen, or want to save space in a rack case.
Does my existing Allen & Heath stage box work via SLink on the SQ-RACK?
That depends on the model. AR-series stage boxes (AR2412, AR84) run fully at 96 kHz via SLink and are compatible without reservation. The AB168 runs at 48 kHz and is therefore not compatible with the SQ-RACK's 96 kHz processing core. Always check your stage box's sample rate before planning the combination.
Can I add Dante later?
Yes. The option card slot supports the Allen & Heath M-SQ-DANT64-AX Dante card for 64x64-channel network audio at 96 kHz. The same slot also accepts MADI, Waves, or extra SLink cards for a digital FoH/monitor split with a second SQ or Avantis.
