Description

One pair of headphones for the club, another for the train and a spare cable for that one old mixer at a wedding: most DJs carry compromises around. The AlphaTheta HDJ-F9 wireless DJ headphones do it all in one. Wireless via SonicLink with just 9 ms of latency in the booth, via Bluetooth at home or on the go, and simply wired on any mixer without a wireless connection. One pair, three connections, no limits.

SonicLink Touch Pairing connects the HDJ-F9 to compatible gear such as the DJM-V5 in one move: hold the headphones against the mixer and play. For any other mixer or controller, plug the separately sold HP-TX01 transmitter into the headphone output. The newly developed 40 mm drivers with a PEEK-PU-PEEK composite diaphragm and a bass-reflex chamber at the top of each cup deliver tight kicks right down into the sub range, while the optimised internal structure isolates remarkably well for an on-ear design. Outside the booth you switch to multipoint Bluetooth 5.3, with a built-in microphone for hands-free calls.

Key features

  • Three connections: SonicLink (9 ms latency) in the booth, Bluetooth on the go, coiled cable on any classic mixer
  • Touch Pairing: tap the headphones against a compatible mixer and you are connected
  • Up to 9 hours on SonicLink or 25 hours on Bluetooth per charge, and 30 minutes of charging gives 2.5 hours of play
  • Strong isolation so you are not constantly pushing the volume in a loud booth
  • Swivel cups and flexible silicone headband: comfortable on one ear, both ears or around your neck
  • Bayonet lock on the coiled cable, so no plug gets yanked out mid-set
  • HEADPHONES CONNECT app: set LED colour and brightness, manage auto power-off and find your headphones

Pairs perfectly with

On the AlphaTheta DJM-V5 you connect with a single tap via Touch Pairing (after a firmware update of the mixer). Any other mixer, controller or player with a headphone output goes wireless with the HP-TX01 SonicLink transmitter. The cable connector is identical to that of the HDJ-F10, HDJ-CX and HDJ-S7, so those cables fit too.

Pro Tip: Turn the status LED off in the app when a long night is coming up; that buys you around two extra hours on SonicLink. And keep the coiled cable in your bag at all times: as soon as you plug it in, wireless mode switches itself off and you simply carry on wired.

In the box

  • Screw-on ø 6.3 mm stereo adapter
  • USB-C to USB-C charging cable 0.5 m

FAQ

Does the HDJ-F9 work with a mixer that has no SonicLink?

Yes. Plug the separately sold HP-TX01 transmitter into the headphone output of your mixer or controller and you play wirelessly on any device. Or simply connect the supplied coiled cable.

How big is the difference between SonicLink and Bluetooth?

SonicLink goes as low as 9 ms, Bluetooth with standard codecs sits at 200 to 300 ms. For beatmatching only SonicLink will do; Bluetooth is meant for listening and calls on the go.

How long does the battery last?

Up to 9 hours on SonicLink and up to 25 hours on Bluetooth with the status LED off. A full charge takes approx. 2.5 hours, and half an hour on the charger gives you another 2.5 hours or so of SonicLink.

Can I connect several HDJ-F9s to one DJM-V5?

AlphaTheta's documentation does not say. Ask us if you play back-to-back on one mixer and we will check it for you.
