Description

The Chauvet DJ Sentinel Wash Q7Z ILS is a compact moving head wash that switches from a tight 5° beam to a wide 27° wash without changing a single accessory. That's the motorized zoom in practice, and it makes the difference at venues where you don't know whether you're walking into a club or a banquet hall.

Seven RGBW quad-color LEDs at 20 W each deliver 140 W of combined output, good for over 30,500 lux in the narrow setting at two meters. 540° pan and 225° tilt give you plenty of movement for dynamic shows, while the full-color LCD on the fixture itself lets you navigate quickly without a smartphone or laptop. Thanks to ILS compatibility, this fixture talks directly to other ILS fixtures in your setup, and the built-in D-Fi transceiver makes wired DMX optional.

Key Features

  • Motorized zoom from 5° to 27°: one fixture for tight spots and wide color washes, no extra gear needed
  • Built-in D-Fi transceiver: send DMX or ILS signals fully wirelessly and skip the cables and extension cords
  • ILS ecosystem: link the Sentinel directly to other ILS fixtures for coordinated shows from one controller
  • Totem Mode: the fixture stays focused on the dance floor, ideal when you stand the Sentinel upright on a stand instead of hanging it in the truss
  • Power linking for 12 units at 230 V: run one power cable and daisy-chain the rest, a huge time-saver on site
  • Strobe from 0 to 20 Hz: subtle flashes to hard strobe, all in the same fixture
  • Compact and light enough (6.3 kg) to rig solo, and fits perfectly in the CHS-40 VIP Gear Bag

Pro Tip: Turn on Totem Mode when you stand the Sentinel Wash Q7Z ILS upright on a stand on the dance floor: the fixture automatically corrects its movement direction so the show looks just as tight as it would rigged in the truss. Pair that with the built-in D-Fi and you've got a fully wireless floor spot ready to go in two minutes.

FAQ

What exactly is ILS, and do I need a separate controller for it?

ILS (Integrated Lighting System) is Chauvet DJ's wireless ecosystem for driving multiple ILS fixtures at once from a single device, with no separate DMX software or laptop required. The Sentinel Wash Q7Z ILS already has the D-Fi transceiver built in, so it talks directly to other ILS fixtures. For more advanced programming, use the ILS Command or IRC-6 as a standalone controller, but that's not required for basic scenes.

How many units can I power-link together at 230 V?

At 230 V you can power-link up to 12 Sentinel Wash Q7Z ILS units on a single circuit, which cuts down enormously on cabling in larger rigs.

What's the practical difference between the 5° and 27° zoom settings?

At the narrowest setting (5°) the fixture throws over 30,500 lux at two meters, translating into a sharp, powerful beam for longer throws or beam effects. At the widest setting (27°) that drops to 3,390 lux, but you get a broad wash that's perfect for coloring sets or backdrops. You switch between these two extremes wirelessly, with no accessory changes.

Can I use the Sentinel Wash Q7Z ILS without any DMX knowledge?

Yes. Thanks to the full-color LCD and built-in automatic and sound-active modes, you can run the fixture without a DMX controller at all. Want full control anyway? Switch wirelessly to DMX or ILS control via the D-Fi transceiver.
