The HK Audio PORTABLE SUB 118 A delivers exactly that foundation. Pick the right preset and your tops and sub instantly play as one system.
Behind the steel grille sits an 18-inch woofer with a 3-inch voice coil, driven by a Class D amp with 700 W RMS and 1400 W peak. That adds up to 131 dB peak SPL and a response reaching down to 31 Hz (-10 dB). A 24-bit DSP with four presets matches phase, level and delay to HK Audio LUNAR, SONAR or POLAR, or applies a general 100 Hz low-pass for tops from any other brand. The built-in stereo preamp makes a 2.1 rig with a single sub easy to set up.

Pro Tip: The Thru output passes the full-range signal, so set your LUNAR or SONAR to the Ext. Sub preset and your POLAR to Music, as HK Audio specifies. With other brands, choose General LPF 100 Hz, engage the low-cut on your tops and try the polarity at 180° if the bass sounds hollow.

FAQ
Do I need two subs for a stereo setup?
Not necessarily. Connect left and right to the two inputs and send the signal on to your tops via the Thru outputs: one sub then handles the bass of both channels. For bigger rooms or more impact, add a second one.
Does the sub work with speakers from other brands?
Yes. Select the General LPF 100 Hz preset and engage the low-cut or high-pass filter on your active tops. If the bass lacks punch, switch the polarity to 180°.
Can I mount a top on the sub?
Yes, via the M20 pole mount and a suitable distance pole. Keep the weight of your top and the pole's maximum load in mind.
