Working with legendary synth builder Dave Smith, Pioneer DJ poured 20 years of experience into making its first sampler a flagship from day one: the Pioneer DJ Toraiz SP-16. Filters from the Prophet-6 give your sound a deep, rich analog touch. The intuitive touch strip also makes its debut here, giving you full control over time-stretching, pitch bending, and volume envelopes. A 7-inch (18cm) touchscreen shows everything you need — pick the track menu to see all your sound's info and parameters, which you tweak with the 6 rotary knobs just below the screen. The sampler ships with 2 GB of samples from renowned Loopmasters, so you can start building basslines and loops right away.
Some standout features:
Up to 265 patterns with the 16-step sequencer. Drop sounds into the sequencer to build your own 16-step loops and use the 6 rotaries to shape the sound. The multi-color pads take on colors you assign yourself, so your kick can be purple, your leads green, and so on. Patterns save easily, even mid-gig. 7-inch full-color touchscreen with detailed sample info — the large display puts exactly the info you need right where you want it, and combined with assignable colors, the Toraiz SP-16 is a joy to use. View your samples' waveforms in real time and shape them with the rotaries. RGB-lit velocity-sensitive Performance Pads give you the same finger feel you know from Pioneer's high-end controllers. Assign up to 16 samples to the pads and record your finger-drumming creativity on the fly, adjusting velocity and per-sample colors as you go. A generous 8 GB of flash memory and real-time processing keep you beat-making non-stop.
The Toraiz SP-16 has 16-voice polyphony, so you can play all 16 assigned samples at once — even while time-stretching or tweaking a sample on the fly.
8 GB is plenty to use the Toraiz SP-16 perfectly as a stand-alone unit.
Analog filters from the DSI (Dave Smith) Prophet-6 synthesizer give the Toraiz SP-16 true analog character, with drive, cut-off, and resonance right at your fingertips — letting you actively filter your sound and give it that raw, fat analog edge.
With Pro DJ Link and MIDI clock, you'll never miss a beat — the Toraiz SP-16 fits perfectly into an XDJ or CDJ setup, syncing itself to the master deck. That lets you layer extra elements into your tracks so it sounds like they were always meant to be there.
The Toraiz SP-16 also has a MIDI port, letting it slot into any live or studio setup. Pioneer even plans to add interconnectivity with other synths and DAWs down the line.
