The DR-40X is a versatile four-track audio recorder for music, podcasts, film, and any other application that requires high-quality audio.

Professional features for professional audio recording

A pair of cardioid condenser microphones handle high sound pressure levels and can be set to AB or XY orientation for a wide stereo field or extra-clear reproduction with reduced phase shift between the two channels. You can also easily use your own microphones or line-level sources via dual Neutrik XLR/TRS combo jacks that support both mic level and +4 dBu line level from mixers or the FOH console. The mic preamps feature 48-volt phantom power and offer enough gain to capture everything from a faint whisper to loud live sound. The built-in stereo microphones let you record the audience's ambient sound while recording directly from an external console, which is ideal for live performances.

Easy to operate

The DR-40X's layout has been redesigned so you can work quickly and easily with one thumb. Tasks like recording, adjusting levels, deleting bad takes, and adding markers are just a button press away. You can apply one of six reverb effects to the input or output signal, and an Overdub function lets you add vocals or instruments to existing audio files.

Besides handheld recording, the DR-40X can also be used as a USB audio interface with two inputs and outputs, making it a powerful yet simple setup for voice-over work, live streaming, podcasting, and songwriting with studio-quality audio.
